March 18, 2013

Dworkin Head ShotOn Tuesday, March 19, Aaron Dworkin, founder and president of the Sphinx Organization and an expert on youth development and diversity in classical music, will join Damian Woetzel, director of the Aspen Institute Arts Program, to discuss the challenges and opportunities of diversity in the arts today. Their conversation, which is part of the Washington Ideas Roundtable Series, will take place at the Institute’s offices in Washington, DC. The duo will explore a variety of topics, including what arts diversity initiatives look like today; what arts organizations can do differently; how music can not only be relevant to, but also serve, diverse communities; and how creative programming can help sustain the classical arts for generations to come.

The conversation, which will be streamed live at 12pm ET here, will also focus on opportunities for change in the arts field. In this short video clip, Dworkin discusses how arts organizations need to embrace change and be in a constant state of evolution to stay ahead of the curve:

Dowrkin also spoke at the 2011 Aspen Ideas Festival about arts and our kids. You can watch his talk from Aspen here.
