Virginia Gov. Bob McDonnell discusses Letter to President Obama on Federal Health Care Law

February 15, 2011

In a letter to President Barack Obama, Virginia Gov. Bob McDonnell and 27 other Republican governors are urging the expedited review of two health care lawsuits in Florida and Virginia. On the day the letter was sent, Gov. McDonnell was at the Aspen Institute debating the constitutionality of the federal health care law with former Pa. Gov., Democrat Ed Rendell.

Before the discussion, he sat down with Justice and Society Program Director Meryl Chertoff and answered questions about the letter, whether he favors the universal health care law in Massachusetts and if there are provisions of the federal law that he thinks could be implemented in Virginia.

Watch the full roundtable with Gov. McDonnell and Gov. Rendell, moderated by Georgetown Law Professor Jeffrey Rosen.
