As the calendar turns to May and spring comes into full bloom, here at the Institute, we are looking forward to our busiest month of the year so far. We will be discussing a range of issues from childcare to manufacturing to investing.

NY Ideas Summit

The New Digital Age – Eric Schmidt, executive chairman of Google, and Jared Cohen, founder and director of Google Ideas, will be discussing their new book entitled, The New Digital Age: Reshaping the Future of People, Nations and Businesses at the Institute’s Washington, DC, office. Watch live on May 2 at 8:30am ET.

New York Ideas – This second annual summit will take place on May 7 in New York City at the New York Historical Society. Featured speakers include Mayor Cory Booker, Senator Joe Manchin (D-WV), chef Mario Batali, FEED project’s Lauren Bush Lauren, New York Yankees President Randy Levine, CNBC’s Maria Bartiromo, and more.

Childcare Jobs – How can we have both an early care and education system that provides good jobs and quality, affordable care? Economic Opportunities Program hosts this discussion in Washington, DC, on May 9.

Skills Gap in Manufacturing – What efforts are being undertaken to creatively address this problem? Manufacturing and Society in the 21st Century discusses some noteworthy examples on May 15 in Washington, DC.

Preparing for the Next Perfect Storm: Investing in Nature – Mark Tercek, president and CEO of the Nature Conservancy discusses his new book, Nature’s Fortune: How Business and Society Thrive by Investing in Nature, with The New York Times‘ Andrew Revkin in New York’s Roosevelt House on May 20.
