Featuring Nobel Prize laureate Stanley B. Prusiner, who will lead a discussion on the drugs which can treat Alzheimer's and related dementias and, more generally, how advances in the life sciences will change the quality and length of our lives. Dr. Prusiner won the Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine in 1997 for his ground-breaking work on the source of neurodegenerative disorders such as mad cow disease and, less directly, Alzheimer’s. Dr. Prusiner is now Director of the Institute for Neurodegenerative Diseases, and Professor of Neurology at the University of California - San Francisco.
