Fireside Chat with Roxana Saberi

A freelance journalist in Iran, Saberi was arrested in January 2009, and held for 100 days. Her arrest, captivity, and liberation present an eyewitness to history. Join us for this intimate, in-depth examination of Iran, freedom of the press, and human rights. Iran ranks 172 of 175 in terms of press freedom, the sixth-leading jailer of journalists worldwide. Of Iranian and Japanese parents, Saberi is deeply involved in international human rights. A graduate of Concordia College, Saberi has masters degrees in journalism and international relations. She has received the Medill Medal of Courage, the Ilaria Alpi Freedom of the Press Award, and the Project for Middle East Democracy Award.
