Aspen Health Stewardship Symposium

Join us at this policy symposium to address the next steps in health reform as well as key implications of the new federal health law. This symposium signals the start of the next phase of the Aspen Health Stewardship Project.

Seeking to shed light on the new law, the gathering will concentrate on wise use of health IT, comparative effectiveness research and innovation, the role of the Independent Payment Advisory Board, and new health insurance models and requirements, including the heightened emphasis on preventive services.

The timing for this next phase of our project is excellent. Having completed the project’s initial phases, including the formation of our coalition of 31 member organizations, we now seek to inform the policy discussions surrounding the writing of regulations underpinning the new federal health law. Building on our earlier work, our aim is to cultivate top of mind awareness of key principles that will effect smart, sustainable improvements to our nation’s health care system with the ultimate goal of helping to suffuse those principles into policymaking.

Following the gathering in Washington, D.C., the project will present a series of regional public meetings to shore up support from across the country. We’re excited about the potential of this moment and very much appreciate your continued support and participation.

Established in 2007, the Aspen Health Stewardship Project is a bipartisan effort to improve the health of the American people by suffusing health care reform with core principles that place the common interests ahead of the special interests. With the help of the newly formed coalition, the project seeks to inform the policymaking process and to refocus the national dialogue on what it will take and what each constituency can do to help steward our shared health resources.

We look forward to seeing you on November 16th.
