What is the purpose of this program?
The Aspen Institute’s national innovation and investor’s forum, in partnership with the U.S. Department of Education, will convene leading innovators and some of our nation’s most resourceful public and private sector leaders to address the most intractable challenges facing American education.  By connecting creative educational thinkers with those with the potential to support or implement solutions, the event will capitalize on the momentum created by the tremendous response to the Investing in Innovation Fund (i3) to ignite a broader national conversation on creating and sustaining an innovation culture in public education. 

How can I get a copy of the conference program?
We will distribute the programs at the event and post a PDF of the book simultaneously. 

Is there a cost to attend?
There is no cost to attend, however, participants must pay for your own travel and accommodations.  The event is invitation only.

Who is speaking/attending?
Featured speakers and attendees will include educational innovators, practitioners and researchers; corporate leaders; venture capital and private equity investors; social capital investors; foundations; technology entrepreneurs; opinion leaders; national policymakers from both sides of the political aisle and other leaders representing multiple sectors. I won’t be able to attend, but can I get a transcript or video of the proceedings?
The event will be available via live webcast at www.edinnovation.org and on our website following the event.  Please visit www.edinnovaatoin.org for additional details following the event

Is there a cost to attend?
There is no cost to attend, however, participants must pay for your own travel and accommodations.  The event is invitation only.

Is there a conference hotel?
A block of rooms has been reserved for participants at the Marriott DC Renaissance Hotel at a special rate of $249 per night.  Please call Marriott Reservations directly at 1-800-468-3571 and reference the Aspen Institute before January 5, 2011 to take advantage of this special rate.

May I forward this invitation to someone else or send a substitute?
No. Due to limited space the event is invitation only. The invitation you received is not transferable.

What time does the program start?  End?
Thursday, January 20th

5:30pm – 7:30pm

Is there a dress code for the event?
Business attire.

May I take photos during the event?
Yes, as long as it is done in a way that is not distracting to speakers or attendees.  Media members will be provided with special check in and guidance.

What are the transportation options for the conference hotel/event site?
Regan
National Airport:
-Taxi*: 18.00 (additional 1.50 per person)
-Super Shuttle – 12.00 per person
-Take the metro nd exit at Mt. Vernon Square/Convention Center: 1.95, price goes up during rush hour     

Dulles Airport:
-Taxi*: 50-55 dollars

-Super Shuttle: 27.00 per person
-Take the Washington Flyer to West Falls church metro (must transfer at metro center to red line) and exit at Farragut North – L exit: the whole trip will be about 8.50 (prices go up during rush hour)

BWI:
-Taxi*: 65.00
-Super Shuttle: 37.00
-Marc Train: 5.00 (will take you to union station which is on the red line for the metro and you can take it to Farragut North – L exit and you’ll see the hotel)

Union Station:
-Metro to Farragut North – L exit and you’ll see the hotel: 1.35, price goes up during rush hour
-Taxi*: 10.00
