The Council of Women World Leaders hosts From Princess to President: Today's Girls, Tomorrow's Leaders, The Implications of Princess Culture on the Creation of the Next Generation of Women Leaders.

Author Peggy Orenstein's bestselling book Cinderella Ate My Daughter explores how the profusion of princesses in American culture results in troubling rates of early sexualization, narcissism, and insecurities among young girls. From Princess to President - a dynamic discussion about the impact of princess culture on girls and the implications that it may have on their development of leadership qualities.

  • Peggy Orenstein, author of Cinderella Ate My Daughter: Dispatches from the Frontlines of the New Girlie-Girl Culture
  • Tracy McLoone, PhD, Assistant Professor in the Women and Gender Studies faculty at George Mason University
  • Laurie Westley, Senior Vice President, Public Policy, Advocacy & the Research Institute, Girl Scouts of the USA.

 

Alison Starling anchor of "Good Morning Washington" and "News at Noon" on ABC7/WJLA-TV moderates the discussion.
