In Fixing the Game, Dean Martin uses fresh ideas and a clear voice to tackle questions at the nexus of US capitalism and global prosperity: What IS the purpose of the firm and how do we fix the compensation systems that now reward trading and gambling over "real" market investments -- the business of designing, making and selling products and services? Dr. Martin uses parallels with how we pay athletes to explore the incentive systems that produce sub-optimal results. Says Martin: focus on the "expectations" market rather than real investment is "a bit like confusing winning the Super Bowl with winning a bet on the Super Bowl."
