Global Spa and Wellness Summit 2012

The leading international event for spa and wellness executives is collaborating with the Aspen Institute to gather high-profile thought-leaders from the medical, business and policy sectors for a critical, engaging three days of debate about the very future of health and wellness – and more innovative, expansive concepts that can move us beyond costly, “sickness-based” traditional healthcare paradigms.

Confirmed keynotes include innovation guru, John Kao; Former U.S. Surgeon General, Dr. Richard Carmona; Jose Maria Figueres-Olsen, Former President of Costa Rica, Mariel Hemingway, Academy Award-Nominated Actress & Wellness Advocate, Philippe Bourguignon, Vice Chairman, Revolution Places, and Peter Rummell, Chairman, Urban Land Institute & Former Chairman, Disney Imagineering among others.

There will be an Aspen Institute panel, “The Aspen Health Innovation Project: Barriers to Innovation and Promotion Innovation” with Dr. Basit Chaudhry, Medical and Research Director, IBM, Dr. Victor Dzau, Chancellor Duke Medical Center and Franmarie Kennedy, Deputy Director of the Health, Biomedical Science and Society policy program, Aspen Institute. The panel will be moderated by Dr. Kavita Patel, Engelberg Center for Health Care Reform Fellow; former Director of the Health Policy Program, New America Foundation.

With the “silos” once separating traditional and “alternative” health approaches rapidly dissolving, we invite thought leaders, business executives, academics and health care experts to join the new dialogue between the health care and wellness arenas now heating up.
