Since the winter of 1998, the Aspen Writers' Foundation (AWF) has presented a seasonal series of unforgettable evenings with remarkable writers. Billed as "Aprés Ski for the Mind," Winter Words is comprised of one-of-a-kind events, bringing authors of all genres to Aspen throughout the winter season to share their words, wit, and wisdom.

Winter Words celebrates the expansive power of the written word to reflect and affect our understanding of the world. As the AWF continues to present dynamic Winter Words events that showcase various authors' work and experiences, other AWF programs such as Writers in the Schools (bringing authors into local classrooms) and Lyrically Speaking (highlighting songwriters and their lyrics) have become incorporated into this unique speaker series.
