McCloskey Speaker Series: The Birth Of American Independence with History Scholar Joseph J. Ellis

 

The McCloskey Speaker Series is a longstanding summer series of wide-ranging discussions on US public affairs issues such as leadership and decision-making, the strength of the national economy and more. Featuring distinguished speakers who have far-reaching impacts on society, the series is made possible by a generous donation from the McCloskey Family Charitable Foundation.

This discussion will feature Joseph J. Ellis, one of the nation’s leading scholars of American history. He will be featured in conversation with Walter Isaacson on the topic of his newest book, “Revolutionary Summer: The Birth of American Independence,” released in June 2013. Ellis is the author of seven books, Ellis was awarded the Pulitzer Prize for “Founding Brothers: the Revolutionary Generation” and won the National Book Award for “American Sphinx,” a biography of Thomas Jefferson.
