Marriage Equality and Social Change: Lessons for Advocates

Advocates for same-sex marriage turned public opinion in states around the nation — as measured by polls and in voting booths —with astonishing rapidity. At the same time, litigation in the Proposition 8 cases in California made a powerful rights argument for marriage equality. How that two-pronged approach to change-making was used, and how it is being studied by other advocates, will be the topic of a panel discussion that marks the release of Professor Kenji Yoshino’s new book, “Speak Now: Marriage Equality on Trial.”

With panelists:
KENJI YOSHINO
