Smart Starts for Children and Families: Building Upon Early Learning Innovations

*This event is by invitation only.

Almost 50 years ago, our nation made a seminal commitment to children and families with the launch of Project Head Start. We are learning more every day about what accelerates children and families toward educational achievement and economic security, and we see opportunities for innovation and burgeoning political will in every community across the United States.

Please join us for this timely forum. We will convene a diverse circle of leaders for a series of conversations that highlight emerging themes for bold advances in the field of early childhood development. The forum includes insights from historians, experts in early care and education, practitioners, parents, policymakers, and philanthropists from across the nation. Special guests include:

  • Roberto Rodriguez, deputy assistant to the President for education
  • Julian Zelizer, professor of history and public affairs at Princeton University and author of “The Fierce Urgency of Now”
  • Blanca Enriquez, director, Office of Head Start, Administration for Children and Families, US Department of Health and Human Services
  • Wendy Jackson, deputy director, community development, Detroit, Kresge Foundation
  • Rory Sipp, executive director, Acelero Learning
  • Andi Phillips, vice president, urban investments group, Goldman Sachs
  • Celinda Lake, founder and president, Lake Research Partners
