NEW VIEWS Documentaries & Dialogue: “41ON41”

’41ON41′ is a strong, good-hearted portrait of an American president whose standing among his countrymen keeps growing and for reasons the film puts sharply into focus in the most human and compelling of ways. I don’t think its importance can be overstated… I try to imagine what it would be like to watch a documentary complied of soliloquies spoken by those — and in comparable numbers — close to John Adams or Harry Truman. Think of what a gift to history that would be! And so it may be said of this film: It is a great gift to history.” –David McCullough, the Pulitzer Prize-winning author of “John Adams” and “Truman”

An enlightening look at America’s 41st president, George H. W. Bush, “41ON41” takes the viewer on an emotional journey as it reveals a remarkable husband, father, grandfather, and friend through the eyes of 41 extraordinary storytellers. The film explores the policy decisions, bipartisanship, good humor, and character that shaped his life, and marked his tenure as leader of the free world. Forty-one storytellers recount his legacy, among them Barbara Bush, George W. & Jeb Bush, Barack Obama, Bill Clinton, Tom Brokaw, Arnold Palmer, Colin Powell, Dana Carvey, Dan Quayle, and David McCullough. (USA, 2014, 90 min.) Executive Producer Rick Kaplan and Associate Producer Peggy Dooley will be featured in post-screening conversation with Philip Zelikow, White Burkett Miller Professor of History at the University of Virginia.
