Generation Indigenous: Elevating Young Native American Leaders

In recognition of President Obama’s Generation Indigenous initiative, CNAY will host an event to highlight issues that Native youth face and showcase their positive youth-led efforts to effect change across Indian Country.

The event will feature three young Native American leaders who have overcome obstacles and challenges in their personal lives to achieve success and make a difference for their tribal communities. These three youth speakers are leading impactful change in their communities as a part of Gen-I, a White House Initiative launched by President Obama, focused on removing the barriers that stand between Native youth and their opportunity to succeed.

The panel discussion will be co-moderated by CNAY Founder and Chairman Senator Byron Dorgan (ret.), along with CNAY Board Member and award-winning producer and journalist Patty Talahongva. Closing remarks will be provided by Kevin Washburn, Assistant Secretary of Indian Affairs at the U.S. Department of the Interior. A lunch buffet will be served.
