Society of Fellows Half-Day Symposium: Foreign Policy Breakthroughs: Cases in Successful Diplomacy

*This event is by invitation only.

Moderated by Ambassador Robert Hutchings, professor at Princeton University, and Dr. Jeremi Suri, professor at the Lyndon B. Johnson School of Public Affairs at the University of Texas, this half-day symposium will explore the underpinnings to successful diplomacy.

How did President Richard Nixon and National Security Advisor Henry Kissinger succeed in making an opening with China after nearly two decades of estrangement? And in one of the most remarkable developments of the 20th century, how was the Cold War ended so swiftly and peacefully? Can these case studies inform us as we navigate foreign relations today with China and Russia?
