For almost 60 years, this premier roundtable has challenged leaders in every field to think more critically and deeply. The seminar is a unique opportunity to step away from the demands of the present and reflect with other leaders in moderated, text-based Socratic dialogue on the concept of a good and just society: What is it? How does it become a reality?
This unique symposium, offered in collaboration with the Aspen Music Festival and School, will explore the ongoing resonance of The Great American Songbook. This program, offered over one morning and afternoon, will explore the nuances and impact of the Great American Songbook, as well as an in-depth exploration of the musicians who brought this music to life.
Aspen Institute President and CEO Walter Isaacson will welcome Society of Fellows members and provide an update on the worldwide work of the Institute. He will then lead a discussion on the legacy of the Great American Songbook with Peter Duchin, musician and band leader; Loren Schoenberg, Director, Harlem Jazz Museum; and Alan Fletcher, President and CEO, The Aspen Music Festival and School.
