| Laurie Cammisa, Vice President for Child Advocacy, Children's Hospital, Boston, MA. As vice president for Child Advocacy, Laurie oversees the Department of Government Relations, Community Benefits Program, the Urban Network and the Martha Eliot Health Center. She is also a member of the hospital's senior management committee which has overall responsibility for the 300-bed, $300 million annual revenue, freestanding children's hospital. Children's is the primary pediatric teaching hospital of the Harvard Medical School, and has been named the #1 children's hospital in the country 9 years in a row by U.S. News and World Report. Previously, Laurie served as a legislative assistant to U.S. Representative Dan Rostenkowski, then Chairman of the Committee on Ways and Means. | John W. Danner, Co-Founder and CEO, Rocketship Education, San Jose, CA. Before starting Rocketship, John served as a teacher in the Nashville public school system for three years, the last two as a second-grade teacher of students with limited English proficiency. In 2000, John co-founded Sacred Heart Nativity School, a private Catholic middle-school for at-risk Latino boys in San Jose. From 2001-2005, John served as the Chairman of the Charter School Resource Center of Tennessee, working for the successful passage of Tennessee’s charter school law in 2002 and assisting the subsequent establishment of twelve charter schools in Tennessee. John served as a founding director of KIPP Academy Nashville, a charter middle school in Nashville. Prior to his work in education, John co-founded and served as chairman and CEO of Allibra, Inc., and served to guide the internet networking company through a period of intense growth. In 1995, he founded NetGravity, the first commercial provider of both on-line advertising and direct marketing management solutions, and in his role as Chairman and CEO took the company public and then sold it to Doubleclick in October of 1999. | William Dirks, Chief Operating Officer, Sonde Resources Corp., Calgary, Alberta, Canada. Bill Dirks is Chief Operating Officer of Sonde Resources Corp. in Calgary, Alberta. He was previously Managing Partner of Tecton Energy -a company he co-founded that focused on finding and developing unconventional hydrocarbon resources in the US and Canada. From 2002-2005 he served as President of Samson Canada Ltd., a privately-owned oil exploration and production company in Alberta, Canada. He previously worked for the Royal Dutch / Shell Group in a variety of roles, including Division Manager of Shell's Onshore U.S. Exploration Division, District Manager of the Deepwater Gulf of Mexico Division, and Manager and Budget Coordinator of Shell Oil Co. E&P Finance. He was also a Director of the Shell International E&P Company and Chairman of TerraTherm Environmental Services Inc., and in 1995 founded and served as President and CEO of Shell Technology Ventures, Inc., which aimed to commercialize Shell's global technology portfolio. Bill has guided several other successful startups including Enventure, LLC (1998), and Standfire Interactive, Inc. (2000). | Sergio M. Gonzales, Senior Vice President for University Advancement & External Affairs, University of Miami, Coral Gables, FL. Sergio Gonzalez was appointed senior vice president for university advancement and external affairs at University of Miami in December 2001, and is responsible for the implementation of all fundraising and alumni affairs for the University. Prior to his appointment, Sergio served as chief of staff to Executive Mayor Alex Penelas, where he directed the Mayor's operations, including his constituent, fiscal, media, administrative, policy and legislative matters. He previously served as the director of the Miami-Dade County Mayor's Office of Job Creation and Welfare-To-Work. He also served as the executive director of the South Florida 1999 Super Bowl Host Committee. | Jeryl Lynn Hilleman, Chief Financial Officer, Amyris Biotechnologies, Emeryville, CA. Jeri is currently the Chief Financial Officer for Amyris Biotechnologies. Jeri left her post as Senior Vice President and CFO of Symyx Technologies in June 2007 after over 10 years with the firm. While there, Jeri was responsible for a staff of 20 including fundraising, accounting operations, corporate communications and investor relations, human resources, information technologies, facilities and purchasing. Symyx Technologies develops combinatorial methodologies to rapidly discover new materials for the chemicals and electronics industry. From 1992-1996, she worked at Genron Corporation as vice president of Finance and Administration, and was vice president for Primordial Stem Cell Technologies from 1996 to 1997. From 1987 to 1992 she was chief financial officer and vice president of Finance and Administration of Cytel Corporation. Paul launched Ideeli in May 2007, and through the company offers a curated selection of in-style luxury accessories at 50 to90 percent off to an affluent membership base. Prior to that, he was founder and CEO of Alset, Inc., which helped leading brands such as Best Buy and Micro Warehouse use the Internet to simultaneously improve service and marketing. A serial entrepreneur, Paul’s first company, Cypress Research Corporation, combined e-commerce with embedded upgrade and commerce technology years in advance of the Internet. Cypress Shopper, a component of the company's MegaPhone fax software for Macs and PCs, shipped over 10 million copies in 23 countries. His second company, Aveo is the industry leader in pre-emptive technical support and provider of the Attune Network, a free Internet-based service that helps PC users avoid common Windows and hardware problems. Paul is also co-inventor for two US patents. He serves on the board of directors for VolunteerMatch, and previously was a board member for ImpactOnline, a nonprofit organization investing in the development of public interest Internet applications. | Neil Jacobstein, Co-Chair- Artificial Intelligence and Robotics, Singularity University, Moffett Field, CA. Neil Jacobstein Co-chairs the Artificial Intelligence and Robotics Track at Singularity University on the NASA Research Park campus in Mountain View, California. He served as President of Singularity University from October 2010-2011. His work there focuses on the technical, business, and ethical implications of exponential technologies. Neil became a Reuters Research Fellow in the Digital Vision Program at Stanford University in 2006. He has been a Distinguished Visiting Scholar in Stanford's Media X Program since 2007. He Chaired AAAI’s 17th Innovative Applications of Artificial Intelligence Conference, and has served as a technical consultant on AI research and development projects for: DARPA, NSF, NASA, NIH, EPA, DOE, the U.S. Army and Air Force, GM, Ford, Boeing, Applied Materials, NIST, and other agencies. Jacobstein was CEO of Teknowledge Corporation, a pioneering AI company. He worked as a graduate research intern in Alan Kay’s Learning Research Group at Xerox’s Palo Alto Research Center (PARC), and was a consultant in PARC’s Software Concepts Group. Mr. Muhr was a Founding Partner, Chairman and CEO of Cenario Capital, an alternative asset management firm, which was acquired by QFS in April 2011. Prior to Cenario, Mr. Muhr served as a Managing Director and was head of Credit Suisse Volaris, a firm he co-founded and sold to Credit Suisse in 2003. | Antonia Ozeroff, Former Senior Vice President—Law, Human Resources and Assistant Secretary, US WEST, Inc., Denver, CO. Toni served as Senior VP of Law and Human Resources for US West, prior to the company's sale to Qwest Communications in 2000. While there she managed the administration of the company's health, pension and other benefit plans, executive compensation, and succession planning, as well as the human resources operations, labor relations, staffing, management compensation, diversity and human resource systems. She was also responsible for General Corporate legal functions including Securities, Corporate Governance, and Board of Directors' matters. | Gerald Papazian, Managing Director, Fountainhead Associates, Rolling Hills Estates, CA. Prior to joining Fountainhead in 2002, Jerry served 12 years as an executive officer of Aura Systems, Inc., a technology-based public company. He served the last five of those years as President and Chief Operating Officer and was responsible for managing the transition from an entrepreneurial business to a mature company with seven operating divisions and subsidiaries. He was subsequently responsible for the implementation of a strategic plan to restructure the company to focus on its core business. He also served as Vice President of Corporate Finance in the Investment Banking Division of Bear, Stearns & Co., Inc. in Los Angeles, and was an associate attorney in the Los Angeles offices of Stroock & Stroock & Lavan. From 1995 to 1996, Jerry served as President of the USC Alumni Association and was a member of the USC Board of Trustees from 1994 to 1999. | Deval Patrick, Governor, State of Massachusetts, Boston, MA. Deval won an historic victory when he was elected Governor of Massachusetts in Nov. 2006, the first African-American to hold the office in the state’s history. Prior to announcing his candidacy, Deval served as Executive Vice President and General Counsel for The Coca Cola Co. in Atlanta, GA, a position he assumed in April 2001. He was also Vice President and General Counsel for Texaco, Inc. where he was responsible for Texaco's worldwide legal affairs, was head of a legal team comprised of more than 70 lawyers, and served on the company's Executive Council. Deval was previously a partner with the Boston law firm of Day, Berry & Howard. In 1994, he was appointed by President Clinton as Assistant Attorney General in charge of the Civil Rights Division of the United States Department of Justice in Washington, DC, where he was responsible for enforcing federal laws prohibiting discrimination. During his tenure, Deval led the largest criminal investigation prior to September 11th, coordinating state, local and federal agencies to investigate church burnings throughout the South in the mid-1990s. He is a member of the bar of Massachusetts, the District of Columbia and California, and is admitted to practice before the U.S. Supreme Court, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the First, Fifth, Ninth and Eleventh Circuits, as well as various federal district courts. | Michael Powell, President and CEO, National Cable and Telecommunications Association, Washington, DC. Michael K. Powell is the President and CEO of the National Cable & Telecommunications Association. NCTA is the policy trade association for the cable operator and cable programmer industries. Prior to joining NCTA, he served as a Senior Advisor with Providence Equity Partners and served on the boards of Cisco Systems, Aol and EDMC. Mr. Powell served as the Chairman of the Federal Communications Commission, from 2001 to 2005, having served as a Commissioner for several years prior. Prior to his tenure at the FCC, Powell served as the Chief of Staff of the Antitrust Division in the Department of Justice where he advised the Assistant Attorney General on substantive antitrust matters, including policy development, criminal and civil investigations, and mergers. He also served as an associate in the Washington, D.C., office of the law firm of O’Melveny & Myers LLP and clerked for the Honorable Harry T. Edwards, Chief Judge of the United States Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit. Before his legal career, Powell served as a policy advisor to the Secretary of Defense. His experience also includes military service as an armored cavalry officer in the United States Army, retiring after being seriously injured on duty. Powell serves on a number of non-profit boards, including the Mayo Clinic, the Aspen Institute and America’s Promise, where he co-chairs Grad Nation—an effort to end the high school dropout crisis. Powell also has served as the Rector of the Board of Visitors of the College of William and Mary, and has taught, as an adjunct professor, at the Catholic University Law School. | Kavita Ramdas, India Country Representative, Ford Foundation, New Delhi, India. Kavita Ramdas was appointed as Ford Foundation India Country Representative in June 2012. Founded in 1952, the New Delhi office has the distinction of being the foundation’s first office outside of the United States and has cultivated a rich history of empowering the citizens of India and the region. Kavita previously served as the Executive Director of Ripples to Waves, a program at the Freeman Spogli Institute for International Studies at Stanford University focusing on social entrepreneurship and development. Prior to that, she was a visiting scholar at Stanford’s Center on Democracy, Development and Rule of Law and at the Center for Philanthropy and Civil Society. During her tenure at the Global Fund for Women, where she served as President and CEO from 1996 to 2010, the assets of the fund increased from $3 million to $20 million while the number of countries that received grants tripled. Currently, Kavita serves as a Trustee of Princeton University, Mount Holyoke College and the Rockefeller Brothers Fund, and serves on the board of Planned Parenthood Federation of America and the African Women’s Development Fund USA. She also Chairs the Women in Public Service Initiative, a joint effort by the U.S. State Department and an alliance of women’s colleges, and the Expert Working Group of the Global Leaders Council for Reproductive Health of the Aspen Institute. | Pat Ryan, Jr., Chief Executive Officer and Co-Founder, INCISENT Technologies, Chicago, IL. Pat Ryan Jr. is Chief Executive Officer and Co-Founder of INCISENT Technologies, a business intelligence and internet marketing software firm based in Chicago. INCISENT was ranked in INC Magazine's 2008 INC 500 as the #4 fastest growing privately held software company in the United States. After graduating from Georgetown University with a Bachelor of Arts in Government, Pat went to work as a teacher on Chicago's West Side. While working as a teacher Pat founded the Inner-City Teaching Corps (ICTC), an urban teaching program similar to the Peace Corps. While beginning to build ICTC, Pat attended the Chicago Police Academy where his classmates elected him "Outstanding Recruit." After completing his work in law enforcement, Pat returned to graduate school earning a Master of Business Administration from the J.L. Snyder Corp. is a family-run development firm whose holdings include AirportParking.com, the leading industry provider of upscale airport parking, transportation, and related travel services in the United States; the Beaver Hollow Conference Center; the Buffalo Conference Center; and the Hyatt Regency Buffalo among others. | John Woolard, CEO, BrightSource Energy, Oakland, CA. John is currently CEO of BrightSource Energy, a large scale solar energy company. Prior to joining BrightSource, John was an Executive-in-Residence in VantagePoint Venture Partner’s CleanTech Group and remains a Venture Partner with the firm. He co-founded Silicon Energy, one of the first successful clean tech companies, and was President, Chief Executive Officer and Chairman of the Board from 1997 to 2003. Following Itron’s acquisition of Silicon Energy, John served as its Vice President of Software Solutions and subsequently the Vice President of Strategy and Business Development. With over twenty years in the energy technology field, John has worked at Lawrence Berkeley National Labs, PG&E, and Alpine Software. He is co-author of a patent for web-based Energy Management systems and has been a member of the executive sessions on National Energy Policy in Washington D.C.
