Sherman Baldwin

Sherman Baldwin, Global Managing Partner, Aerospace and Defense, Accenture, Hartford, CT. Sherman Baldwin joined Accenture in September 2004 as an Associate Partner in the Communications and High Tech Group and eventually moving into his current role as Managing Partner in Aerospace and Defense. Prior to that he served as Vice President of Strategy & Development at Pratt & Whitney, a leading designer and manufacturer of jet engines and industrial gas turbines from April 2002 to December 2003. He was previously founder and Managing Director of the New York office of Redleaf Group, a venture capital firm. He has also served as Vice President, managing member and equity partner at J.F. Lehman & Company and as an Engagement Manager at McKinsey & Company. Before starting his business career Sherman served as a naval aviator from 1988 to 1995. In 1991 during the first Gulf War he piloted EA-6B Prowlers off the U.S.S. Midway. He later worked as a special assistant to the Secretary of the Navy and as a planner for the strategic plans and policy division of the Joint Chiefs of Staff. He has written a book, Ironclaw, about his Gulf War experience. Sherman has been a member of the Council on Foreign Relations since 1995. He is also a founding trustee of the Childrens Pompe Foundation and a member of the American Council on Germany. Sherman has earned a B.A. in political science from Yale University, a Masters degree in telecommunications from George Washington University and an M.B.A from Harvard Business School. He and his family make their home in Connecticut.  Sherman is a member of the 2003 class of Henry Crown Fellows at the Aspen Institute. 

Cory A. Booker

Cory A. Booker, Mayor, Newark, NJ.  Cory Booker has spent his entire professional life in Newark. After serving as a Staff Attorney for the Urban Justice Center  and as a Program Coordinator of the Newark Youth Project, in 1998, Cory rose to prominence by up setting a four-term incumbent to become Newark's Central Ward Councilman. During his four years of service, Cory earned a reputation as a leader with innovative ideas and bold actions, from increasing security in public housing to building new playgrounds.  Cory ran for mayor of Newark in 2002, narrowly losing to the incumbent, and in 2006 he ran again, this time winning the election to become Mayor of Newark.  Cory is a member of several boards including the Executive Committee of Yale Law School, Columbia University Teachers' College  Board of Trustees, the Black Alliance for Educational Options, North Star Academy, and Integrity Inc. He received a B.A. in political science in 1991 and an M.A. in sociology in 1992 from Stanford University. He then traveled to Oxford as a Rhodes Scholar and received an honors degree in Modern history in 1994. In 1997, he earned his law degree from Yale University. Cory is a member of the 2003 class of Henry Crown Fellows at the Aspen Institute. 

Anne B. Devereux

Anne B. Devereux, CEO, Lyon Heart and CEO, TBWA \ World Health, New York, NY. A leader and visionary in healthcare marketing, Anne Devereux is responsible for the continued evolution of the Lyon Heart and TBWA \ World Health marketing firms and their worldwide network as they continuously strive to help clients build world-class brands. Prior to joining Lyon Heart, Anne was BBDO’s Chief Integration Officer as well as Managing Director of all health-related assignments within BBDO New York. While at BBDO, she built one of the fastest growing healthcare units of a major advertising network. Before joining BBDO, Anne was president and founder of Consumer Healthworks, which then became Merkley Newman Harty Healthworks, one of the first agencies to specialize in direct-to-consumer advertising for healthcare brands.   Anne began her career in brand marketing as vice president, account group supervisor for WPP-Thomas Ferguson Associates. A Wellesley College  graduate, Anne is the proud mother of two girls, Lauren and Ciara.  In her spare time she can be found at the gym, in the garden, or at her kitchen table designing jewelry. Anne is a member of the 2003 class of Henry Crown Fellows at the Aspen Institute.

 

Stacey M. Hadash

Stacey M. Hadash, Managing Director, Global Capital Markets, Banc of America Securities LLC, New York, NY. Stacey Hadash joined Banc of America Securities in June 2005.  She was previously Managing Director and Head of Financial Planning at the New York  Stock Exchange. Prior to that she directed the New York office of Public Strategies Inc., where she specialized in business development and communications campaigns for a variety of clients. Before joining PSI in 2002, Stacey was a vice president in investment banking for Goldman Sachs International in London where she advised companies in the communications, media and technology sectors. She began her career with Goldman Sachs in the mergers and acquisitions department in New York in 1996 and before that worked for Morgan Stanley as a financial analyst. Earlier in her career, Stacey worked in the economic policy group of the 1992 Clinton/Gore campaign and on the Presidential Transition Commission. She also worked as a special assistant to the Assistant Secretary for Economic and Business Affairs at the United States Department of State. Stacey graduated from Smith College with a B.A. in political science. She later earned an MBA, with an emphasis in finance, from The University of Chicago Graduate School of Business. She and her husband Terry make their home in New York City. Stacey is a member of the 2003 class of Henry Crown Fellows at the Aspen Institute. 

Mark S. Hoplamazian

Mark S. Hoplamazian, President and CEO, Global Hyatt Corp., Chicago, IL.  Mark Hoplamazian was named President and Chief Executive Officer of Global Hyatt Corporation in December 2006.  Prior to being appointed to his present position, Mark served as President of The Pritzker Organization, LLC. The Pritzker Organization is the principal financial and investment advisor for Pritzker family business interests. During his 17 year tenure, he served as advisor to various Pritzker family-owned companies, including Global Hyatt Corporation. Mark has served on the boards of directors of a number of privately held companies and participated on behalf of the Pritzker family business interests in the formation of a number of companies. He previously worked in international mergers and acquisitions at The First Boston Corporation in New York. Mark currently serves on the Board of Trustees of The Latin School of Chicago, the Advisory Board of Facing History and Ourselves and the Council on the University of Chicago Booth School of Business. He graduated from Harvard in 1985 and earned an MBA from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business in 1989. Mark is a member of the Discovery Class of the Henry Crown Fellowship at the Aspen Institute. He resides in Chicago with his wife and three children.

Russell C. Horowitz

Russell C. Horowitz, Chairman and CEO, Marchex Inc., Seattle, WA. Russell Horowitz rose to the top of the tech business world as Chairman and CEO of Go2Net, Inc., which he co-founded with a high-school friend. He served as Go2Nets Chairman, CEO and CFO from its inception in 1996 until its merger into InfoSpace in July 2000. He continued to serve as the Vice Chairman and President of the combined company through the merger integration process. In March 1996, Russ founded Xanthus Capital, LP, a Seattle, Washington-based merchant bank. There he served as the CEO and a director of Xanthus Management, LLC, the general partner of Xanthus Capital, LP, and of DMR Investments, LLC, the investment advisor to Xanthus Capital, LP. In 1992, Russ founded his first venture, Active Apparel Group (now Everlast Worldwide) and served as its Chief Financial Officer until 1995. Russ currently serves as a member of the Board of Visitors for Columbia College of Columbia University. He has also served as a member of the board of directors of National Discount Brokers, as a participant and panelist in the 2000 Microsoft CEO Summit, and as a member of Vulcan Ventures' Presidents's Council, the board of advisors of the Berkman Center for Internet and Society at Harvard Law School, and the Governors Advisory Council on the Internet and Technology for the State of Washington. He received a B.A. in economics from Columbia University in 1988. He and his wife and daughter live in Seattle. Russ is a member of the 2003 class of Henry Crown Fellows at the Aspen Institute.  

John S. Johnson

John S. Johnson, Founder and Chairperson, Pacific Foundation, New York, NY. John Johnson is the founder and chairperson of the Pacific Foundation, which funds innovation in the arts, environment, and social and economic justice. He is the co-founder of buzzfeed.com, a start-up company that detects and accelerates on line buzz about interesting topics. John's background in the nonprofit sector includes conceiving of and founding such well regarded arts institutions as the Filmmakers Collaborative (the venerable indie film non-profit reborn now as a film fund), the Screenwriters Colony. In addition John is the founder of Eyebeam, a MacArthur and NEA funded, pioneering art and technology center for hackers, artists, and educators that facilitates workshops for the general public, artist residencies, and research fellowships. Most recently, John founded and heads the Harmony Institute, a ground breaking non-profit research institute focused on the application of behavioral and neuroscience on storytelling in mainstream entertainment.  A double major in the math and philosophy, John received his Bachelor of Arts degree from St. Johns College in Annapolis, Maryland. He also attended New York University Film Schools Transfer Program. John and his wife Susan make their home in New York City. He is a member of the 2003 class of Henry Crown Fellows at the Aspen Institute. 

Peter Bicknell Kellner

Peter Bicknell Kellner, Co-Founder and Managing Director, Richmond Management, New York, NY, Peter Kellner is co-founder of Richmond Management, a New York based investment management and venture capital firm focused on communications technologies and technology enabled services. Prior to this, he co-founded Vectis Group, which led the turnaround of Critical Path, Inc., a publicly traded consumer messaging software company. In 1997, Peter co-founded New York based Endeavor Global, which is pioneering economic development in Latin America, Africa, and Turkey through new venture creation. Prior to that, he co-founded Ural Petroleum Corporation (re-named Khanty-Mansyisk Oil Corporation) one of the largest independent western oil companies in the Russian Federation prior to its sale in 2003 to Marathon Oil. He also co-founded the Environmental Management and Law Association, Hungary's leading environmental management and law association. Peter is a member of the Council on Foreign Relations; the Pacific Council on International Policy; the International Institute for Strategic Studies; and a North America committee member of Ashoka. He serves on the boards of GetConnected, Inc., Voxiva.net, and Obopay; and the non-profits boards of JustGive.org, All Our Kin, and National Student Partnerships. Peter graduated cum laude from Princeton University with a BA and major in the Woodrow Wilson School of Public & International Affairs. In 1992, as a Fulbright Scholar, he studied at Eotvos Lorand University in Budapest, Hungary. He received his JD from Yale University Law School and his MBA from Harvard Business School. Peter is a member of the 2003 class of Henry Crown Fellows at the Aspen Institute.   

Richard Lai

Richard Lai, Professor, The Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania, Philadelphia, PA.  Richard is currently a professor at the Wharton School at the th University of Pennsylvania.  Richard also founded dollarDEX, an award-winning wealth management firm in Singapore that distributes over 300 products to banks, insurance companies, fund managers, consumers and small businesses. The firms client portfolio exceeds $300 million, making it one of the largest of its kind in Southeast Asia, and in 2003, Institutional Investor ranked dollarDEX among the Global Top 30 in online finance. Richard is currently on sabbatical from his post as CEO of the company to complete his doctoral work at Harvard Business School. Prior to dollarDEX, Richard was with the strategy-consulting firms Bain & Company as co-leader of its Asian Financial Services Practice, and at McKinsey & Company. Before that, he was a research scientist at Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). In 2003, the government of Singapore appointed Richard as Deputy Chairman (alternate) for the countrys Intellectual Property Office, where he had been a board director since 2001. Richard has been active on other public committees, including the resource panel for the Group Parliamentary Committee on Finance and Industry and the Economic Review Committee. He is a founding member of the Action Community for Entrepreneurship, a social enterprise formed by about 20 of Singapore's prominent business people to spur entrepreneurship. Richard has been featured as one of the 50 Movers and Shakers by the Singapore Straits Times, and in 2003 gave the third Monetary Authority of Singapore Innovation Address. Richard graduated from MIT with Bachelor degrees in Computer Science and Mathematics and a Masters in Business Administration. He was a DBS scholar at MIT and a Deans Fellow in the Ph.D. program at the Wharton School. Richard and his wife and daughter currently live in Boston, MA. He is a member of the 2003 class of Henry Crown Fellows at the Aspen Institute. 

Thomas H. Layton

Thomas H. Layton, Chief Executive Officer, Metaweb Technologies, San Francisco, CA. Thomas Layton is the CEO of Metaweb Technologies. He was formerly the CEO of OpenTable, the leading provider of guest and table management systems to restaurants and free, online reservations to consumers. Prior to OpenTable, Thomas co-founded CitySearch, Inc., which later merged with TicketMaster to become TicketMaster Online-CitySearch, now a subsidiary of InterActiveCorp. (formerly USA Networks). In his role as President and COO at TMCS he helped grow the organization to become the leading online local content property, serving more than 128 cities worldwide. From 1994-1995 Thomas was with Score Learning Corporation, a leading educational services company, first as Chief Financial Officer and later as President and Chief Operating Officer. Thomas also has extensive experience in other entrepreneurial firms and in venture capital. In 2004, Thomas co-founded the non-profit, TakeBackCA.org, whose mission is to elimiate the influence of special interest money in California elections. Thomas holds an MBA from the Graduate School of Business at Stanford University and a BS from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He lives in San Francisco with his wife and four daughters. Thomas is a member of the 2003 class of Henry Crown Fellows at the Aspen Institute. 


Marie-Christine Levet, Chief Executive Officer, T-Online France, Paris, France. Since 2002, Marie-Christine Levet has served as the CEO of T-Online France / Club-Internet, the third largest internet service provider in France and subsidiary of Deutsche Telekom. Prior to that she founded Lycos in France in 1997 and served as the managing director of the joint venture between the internet company Lycos, Inc. and the media group Bertelsmann until 2001. Prior to that, she served from 1991 to 1997 as the business development and strategic planning manager for Pepsico in France, and before that for the Walt Disney Company, taking part in the launch of Disneyland Paris. Marie-Christine began her career with Accenture (formerly Andersen Consulting) serving as a management consultant from 1988-1991. In 2000, she was elected Young Manager of the Year by a jury of renowned media and telecom executives and in 2002 she was named French Telecom Personality of the Year. Marie-Christine received a business degree with an emphasis in marketing from Haute Etudes Commerciales in Paris in 1988. From there she earned her MBA from INSEAD, Fontainebleau school of business in 1994. She and her husband Wilfired live in Paris, France. Marie-Christine is a member of the 2003 class of Henry Crown Fellows at the Aspen Institute.  

Lucy P. Marcus

Lucy P. Marcus, Founder and CEO, Marcus Venture Consulting, Leicestershire, England. Lucy Marcus founded Marcus Venture Consulting in 1999. Her company works with private equity funds, institutions, and corporations, to help them create and implement strong foundations for their funding efforts. She is also the Chair of the Global Task Force on Building Women Leaders, which is conducting the first cross-cultural, cross-sectoral and cross-continental study on the vitally important subject of discovering the most effective means of fostering women leaders in the 21st century. Lucy also founded and runs HighTech Women, an on-line and off-line mentoring and meeting place for women in technology and technology-related sectors. She previously served in the East European Services Division of Price Waterhouse and the U.S. Treasury's Economic Policy Division. After completing her Masters degree, she co-founded and was Vice President of an enterprise management software company. Thereafter, she was responsible for Marketing and Business Development for EMEA at Infinity Financial Technologies and worked for a communications consulting company. Lucy sits on a number of boards, serving as an independent non-executive director for the International Step-by-Step Association (ISSA), the advisory board of the University of Cambridge’s Judge Business School, the international advisory board of the Instituto de Empresa Business School in Madrid, and the board of the British American Project. She is also on the board of the Wellesley College Business Leadership Council and was selected as a World Economic Forum Global Leader for Tomorrow. She is a regular speaker and writer on global economic trends and best practices for investment, as well as on women in business. She holds a B.A. from Wellesley College (Wellesley, Massachusetts) and an M. Phil. from the University of Cambridge (Cambridge, England). Lucy, her husband and son live in Leicestershire, England.  She is a member of the 2003 class of Henry Crown Fellows at the Aspen Institute.  

David H. McCormick

David H. McCormick, Bridgewater Associates, Westport, CT.  David McCormick is a senior leader and member of the Management Committee at Bridgewater Associates, a global leader in institutional portfolio management with over $70 billion in assets under management. Prior to joining Bridgewater, he served for more than a decade at senior levels of business, government, and academia. Most recently, Dave was the Distinguished Service Professor of Information Technology, Public Policy and Management at Carnegie Mellon University. From 2007 to 2009, he was Under Secretary for International Affairs at the U.S. Treasury Department where he oversaw policies affecting global financial markets and led the international response to the crisis. Before joining Treasury, Dave was Deputy National Security Advisor for International Economic Policy and the President's personal representative to the Group of Eight industrialized countries. He also served as Under Secretary of Commerce for Export Administration where he oversaw policies affecting over $200 billion in annual high technology exports. During his business career, Dave was President and CEO of FreeMarkets and President of Ariba, two publicly-traded software and services companies. He has also worked as a consultant for McKinsey & Company. Dave received a mechanical engineering degree from the U.S. Military Academy at West Point and a Ph.D. from the Woodrow Wilson School of Public and International Affairs at Princeton University. He is a former Army officer and a veteran of the first Gulf War.  He and his family live in Virginia.  Dave is a member of the 2003 Class of Henry Crown Fellows at the Aspen Institute.

Eric L. Motley

Eric L. Motley, Managing Director, Henry Crown Fellowship Program, Aspen Institute, Washington, DC. Dr. Eric L. Motley was named Managing Director of the Aspen Institute's Henry Crown Fellowship Program in January 2007.  Prior to that he served as director of the U.S. Department of State’s Office of International Visitors. In this role he oversaw the International Visitor Leadership Program, which was designed to build mutual understanding between the U.S. and other countries through carefully arranged visits that reflect the participant’s interests and support U.S. foreign policy goals.    In 2003, he became Special Assistant to the President for Presidential Personnel, where he managed the appointment process for over 1,200 appointed advisory board and commission positions. He joined the White House staff as Deputy Associate Director, Office of Presidential Personnel in 2001.   Eric has written and lectured on the intellectual and political contributions of Scottish-born American Founding Father, James Wilson, and is currently engaged in developing a collection on the scholarship of the eminent Greek scholar Sir Kenneth Dover.   He is involved with a wide range of local, state and national organizations, including the Cosmos Club of Washington, Grolier Club of New York, Young Concert Artists of Washington, DC, Manuscript Society of America, Dialexis Society, The Odysseus Circle, Christ Church Episcopal of Georgetown and Samford University of Birmingham, Alabama. Eric earned his bachelor’s degree in Political Science and Philosophy from Samford University  in 1996. As a Rotary International Ambassadorial Scholar at St. Andrews University  in Scotland, he earned a Master of Letters in International Relations and a Ph.D. in International Relations and Theology as a John Steven Watson Scholar. Eric is a member of the 2003 class of Henry Crown Fellows at the Aspen Institute. 

Jacob Ner-David

Jacob Ner-David, Managing Partner, Jerusalem Capital, Jerusalem, Israel. Jacob Ner-David is the managing partner of Jerusalem Capital, and has served as co-founder and member of senior management for several Jerusalem-based high-tech companies, most recently as acting CEO of the Jerusalem Business Development Corporation, a non-profit organziation he founded to help bring economic renewal to the city. Jacob has also served as a volunteer advisor on foreign relations to the mayor of Jerusalem. He is a senior consultant to JVP Studio, a technology incubator he co-founded. Prior to this he seved as Chairman and CEO of 2bAnywhere, a software company focused on wireless messaging. In 1996, he co-founded Delta Three, an internet telephony-based communications service, and served as executive chairman. He also co-founded Ambient Corporation and Nomad IQ and served as Chairman and CEO of both companies. A social activist, Jacob plays an active role as Chairman of Bayit Chadash, which he co-founded to bring about an Israeli revolution of community with Jewish values and identity. He also co-founded Rikma, a fellowship program to procude better trained and prepared leaders for the Jewish community in Israel. He serves on the audit committee of the Heschel Center for the Environment, the board of directors of JFL Media, and the Israel Steering Committee of One Voice. Published in many leading newspapers, Jacob has also authored several book chapters and currently serves as a volunteer lecturer on entrepreneurship at the Hebrew University in Jerusalem. He received a B.A. from City College of New York and a J.D. from Georgetown University Law Center. In 1989 he was an Isaacs Scholar of English Literature at Mansfield College, Oxford. He and his family make their home in Jerusalem.  Jacob is a member of the 2003 class of Henry Crown Fellows at the Aspen Institute. 

Kevin T. Parker

Kevin T. Parker, Chief Executive Officer, Deltek Systems, Inc., Herndon, VA.  Kevin Parker joined Deltek, a leading enterprise software supplier, in July 2005 and as President and CEO is responsible for leading more than 800 employees in twelve offices worldwide.  Prior to Deltek, Kevin served as PeopleSoft’s CFO from October 2000 to December 2004. He was also named co-president of PeopleSoft in October 2004. While there he was responsible for internal operations as well as worldwide finance and accounting functions, including administration, human resources, legal, facilities and the IT organization worldwide. Prior to joining PeopleSoft, Kevin served as senior vice president and chief financial officer for CRM provider Aspect Communications Corp., as well as held senior management positions at Fujitsu Computer Products of America, Standard Microsystems and Toshiba America. In addition, Kevin was previously with the accounting firm of Price Waterhouse.   In 2000, CFO Magazine named him one of 20 CFOs who would make a difference in the next decade. Kevin currently serves on the Board of Directors for Polycom, Inc., a leading provider of unified collaborative communications solutions, as well as the Board of Trustees of Clarkson University.  He received a bachelor’s degree in accounting from Clarkson University in 1981.   He and his family live in Virginia.  Kevin is a member of the 2003 class of Henry Crown Fellows at the Aspen Institute.

Markku E. Rentto

Markku E. Rentto, Managing Director & Chief Executive Officer, REKA Corporation, Hyvinkaa, Finland. Markku Rentto has served as head of the REKA Corporation since 2002. REKA is a privately held, family-controlled Finnish industrial conglomerate with interests in cable, shoes, rubber and real estate. They currently have operations in Scandinavia, Russia and Eastern Europe. Prior to that, he was Managing Director of REKA Cables (Finlands leading manufacturer of power cables) from 1995-2001 and Market Development Manager from 1991-1995. He started his career at Schutz Kabel GmbH in Abensberg, Germany in 1982 and in 1988 moved to Alunorf Neuss GmbH. Markku currently serves on the boards of the Federation of Finnish Metal Engineering and Electrotechnical Industries in Helsinki; the Center for Quality of Management in Cambridge, MA; the Chamber of Commerce of Hyvink/Riihimki; the Europacable SME committee (an interest group of European cable manufacturers); SAV (a credit company); and CAG (an independent corporate finance house). He was previously chairman of the board for Hiisi Group, Finlands oldest securities trader. Markku received his Baccalaureate in Hyvink, Finland and went on to earn a Masters in Economy from the University of Beyreuth, Germany in 1990. In 2002 he attended the SEP course at Stanford University. He and his wife and two children live in Helsinki, Finland. Markku is a member of the 2003 class of Henry Crown Fellows at the Aspen Institute.  

Susan E. Siegel

Sue Siegel, General Partner, Mohr Davidow Ventures, Menlo Park, CA.  Sue joined Mohr Davidow Ventures (MDV) in March 2007 and specializes in investment areas focused on personalized medicine. In particular, she partners with entrepreneurs and companies that offer solutions to pressing healthcare challenges: age-onset conditions, lifestyle-induced health trends, consumer-driven wellness preservation, and those that improve healthcare economics. Prior to joining MDV, Sue was President and Director of Affymetrix, Inc., a Silicon Valley-based biotechnology company that pioneered GeneChip® technology, which helped propel the expansion of the genomics field by applying the principles of semiconductor technology to the life sciences.   Prior to joining Affymetrix, Susan was President of the Hoefer Pharmacia Biotech business of Amersham International (now GE). She was also involved in commercializing key biomedical technologies at E. I. DuPont & Co., Eastman Kodak Co., and Bio-Rad Laboratories. Sue serves on the board of The Tech Museum of Innovation, is a member of the Presidents' Circle of the National Academies, and serves as an advisor to the Institute of Medicine. She is a member of the Strategic Advisory Council of The Gladstone Institute in San Francisco, and is a Council member for the Institute for Immunity, Transplantation, and Infection (ITI) at Stanford Medical School. She has served as a Regional Panelist for the selection of White House Fellows, on the Council on Biotechnology Research, Innovation, and Public Policy for the Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS), and on the IBM Life Sciences and Healthcare Strategic Advisory Council. Sue received her B.S. in Biology from the University of Puerto Rico and she holds a M.S. in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology from Boston University Medical School.  Sue is a member of the 2003 class of Henry Crown Fellows at the Aspen Institute. 

Thomas E. Tighe

Thomas E. Tighe, President and Chief Executive Officer, Direct Relief International, Santa Barbara, CA. Thomas Tighe has served as President and CEO of Direct Relief International, a nonprofit humanitarian medical organization, since October 2000. Direct Relief has furnished more than $300 million in privately funded humanitarian medical aid worldwide since Thomas arrival and was named one of Americas Best 100 Charities by Worth magazine and rated by Forbes magazine as one of only four U.S. charities that is 100% efficient. From 1995-2000, he served as Chief of Staff and Chief Operating Officer of the Peace Corps, overseeing day-to-day operations of the agencys worldwide programs and a resurgent growth of the agency to a 27-year high. Prior to that, Thomas served as Associate General Counsel of the Peace Corps, negotiating bilateral agreements to initiate programs in South Africa, China, and Bangladesh. From 1989-93, he served as Associate Counsel on the U.S. Senate Committee on Veterans Affairs, conducting oversight and developing legislation related to veterans mental-health care, special disability programs, drug and alcohol treatment, and services for homeless veterans. He is a member of the Pacific Council on International Policy, a director of the Dreamweaver Medical Foundation, the Montecito Education Foundation, and is a former member of the Board of Directors of InterAction. A 1982 graduate of the University of California, Berkeley, Thomas received a J.D. in 1985 from the University of California, Hastings College of Law and an Honorary Doctorate of Law from Hobart and William Smith Colleges in May 2003. He served as a Peace Corps Volunteer teacher in rural Thailand from 1986-88. Thomas, his wife and their four children live in Santa Barbara, CA. Thomas is a member of the 2003 class of Henry Crown Fellows at the Aspen Institute.   

Lynn Marie Utter

Lynn Utter, President & COO, Knoll, North America, East Greenville, PA.  Lynn Utter was appointed President and COO of Knoll, North America in February 2008.  She was formerly the Chief Strategy Officer for Coors Brewing Company, and  before that she served as Vice President of Container Operations and Vice President of Logistics for Coors. Prior to joining the brewery in August 1997, Lynn consulted for seven months with Coors on the company’s Distributor Service Initiative. Her previous experience includes six years with Frito-Lay, where she served as a Strategic Planning Group Manager, Director of Distribution for the Denver area, Area Vice President, and Vice President for Sales Operations. Early in her career, Lynn spent four years with Strategic Planning Associates in Washington, D.C. She currently chairs the University of Texas-McCombs College of Business Administration Deans Advisory Council, was named an Outstanding Young Texas Ex in 2004, and is a past president of the Stanford Business School Alumni Association. In addition, she is a trustee of the Mile High United Way and was chairperson of MHUW's 2004 campaign. Lynn received a bachelors degree in business administration with highest honors from the University of Texas at Austin, where she was named the university’s outstanding student. In 1986, she earned an MBA from Stanford University and was named the Arbuckle Award recipient. Lynn, her husband and their two children live in Devon, PA.  Lynn is a member of the 2003 class of Henry Crown Fellows at the Aspen Institute.
