Washington, DC – Partners For a New Beginning (PNB) will host an International Summit at the Aspen Institute headquarters in Washington, DC May 31-June 1, 2011. The Summit will feature leaders from the private sector, civil society and U.S. government, as well as leaders of PNB local chapters in Turkey, Pakistan, Indonesia, the Palestinian Territories, Algeria and Morocco. The aim of the Summit is to unite local and international partners as well as other interested parties to discuss current projects and to collaborate on the most efficient way PNB can further public private partnerships that advance entrepreneurship, foster exchange, increase educational opportunity and support science and technology.
PNB is an alliance to foster public-private partnerships committed to broadening and deepening engagement between the United States and local communities abroad in support of President Obama’s vision for a New Beginning based on mutual interest and respect.
Former U.S. Secretary of State Madeleine K. Albright serves as Chair of PNB; Muhtar Kent, Chairman and CEO of The Coca-Cola Company, and Walter Isaacson, President and CEO of the Aspen Institute serve as Vice Chairs. PNB’s Steering Committee is comprised of leaders from Morgan Stanley, ExxonMobil, Cisco, Intel, Dow Chemical, Brown University, CARE USA, Case Foundation, Perella Weinberg Partners, Rockefeller Brothers Fund and the Interfaith Youth Core. In her recent address to the US-Islamic World Forum, U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton lauded PNB as a powerful tool to spur private sector development.
In addition to Madeleine Albright, Muhtar Kent, and Walter Isaacson, the PNB Summit will feature remarks, participation and discussions led by Steering Committee representatives such as ExxonMobil Foundation President Suzanne McCarron, Interfaith Youth Core President Eboo Patel and Case Foundation CEO Jean Case. Workshops and panel discussions will address topics including Science & Technology Exchanges as a Vehicle for Strengthening Relationships with Local Communities, and Addressing Youth Unemployment: Building Human Capacity to Facilitate Job Creation to target the four pillars of PNB: economic opportunity, science and technology, education, and exchange.
