U.S. natural gas exports

The Aspen Institute’s Energy and Environment Program and the American Clean Skies Foundation convened a panel and roundtable discussion on U.S. natural gas exports from the perspective of potential importing countries. Speakers Michael Levi of the Council on Foreign Relations; Kristine Berzins, a Berlin-based Energy Consultant; and Atsushi Saiganji of the Tokyo Gas Company discussed the benefits of exports, trade barriers and other political and financial obstacles that might arise, and geopolitical considerations.  Greg Staple, CEO of the American Clean Skies Foundation, and Jack Riggs, Aspen Institute Senior Fellow, moderated a wide-ranging discussion, much of which  centered on reports by Berzins “European Views on American Shale Gas Exports:  A Strategic Primer,” and Levi “A Strategy for U.S. Natural Gas Exports.
