Aspen Institute Italia, Rome, December 5, 2003 -- Giulio Tremonti, Italian Minister of Economy and Finance, already Vice Chairman of Aspen Institute Italia, was appointed new Chairman of the Institute. Enrico Letta, member of the Italian House of Representatives and Secretary General of AREL (leading economic policy research Institute) is the new Vice Chairman. Lucio Stanca, Italian Minister for Innovation and Technology and Paolo Savona, professor of Economic Policy at LUISS University were confirmed as Vice Chairmen, in the role of Treasurer and Deputy Vice Chairman.
Carlo Scognamiglio, who served as Chairman from 1995, becomes the Honorary Chairman together with Cesare Romiti, CEO of RCS Quotidiani who was reconfirmed.
These decisions were made by the General Council last November 26. Moreover the Executive Committee reconfirmed Giuseppe Cattaneo as Director General.
General Council thanked Carlo Scognamiglio for his strong commitment in leading Aspen Italia towards a steady growth in authoritativeness, in excellence and variety of the Institute activities and for the expansion of the international Aspen network.
The General Council Meeting also approved the 2004 budget and programs, confirming Aspen's commitment in analyzing strategic economic and geopolitical themes, such as transatlantic relations, European integration process and the Enlargement challenges, the Euro-Mediterranean relations and the perspectives of the world economy.
