Biography

Lord Charles Powell was for many years Private Secretary and advisor on foreign affairs and defense to Lady Thatcher when she was Prime Minister, and held the same position in the early part of John Majors time as Prime Minister. Since 1992, he has been an international businessman, currently serving as Chairman of Sagitta Asset Management, and a Board member of several major international companies, principally LVMH, Caterpillar, Textron, Schindler Group, Mandarin Oriental Hotel Group and Yell Group. He also holds a number of other positions, in particular President of the China-Britain Business Council, Trustee of the British Museum, Chairman of the Trustees of the Oxford Business School and Chairman of Atlantic Partnership. He is an independent member of the House of Lords, the upper house of Britains parliament.
