Joan Lovett joined the Program on the World Economy as Director in 1997. Prior to that, she enjoyed a 27-year career with the Federal Reserve Bank of New York. When she left the Bank, she was Senior Vice President in charge of the Domestic Markets Group, the area responsible for implementing the monetary policy decisions of the Federal Reserve. She was also appointed by the Board of Governors as Manager of the Federal Reserve System’s Open Market Account, the operating portfolio of the Federal Reserve. She has participated in technical assistance missions to central banks and finance ministries abroad on matters pertaining to monetary policy operations and Government debt management practices and has spoken widely on these topics.
