Biography
Laura Liswood is Secretary General of the Council of Women World Leaders, she also holds the position of Senior Advisor at Goldman Sachs, a premier global investment bank.
In August 1996, Ms. Liswood co-founded the Council of Women World Leaders with President Vigdís Finnbogadóttir of Iceland and located it at the Kennedy School of Government, Harvard University. The Council moved the offices of its Secretariat to Washington DC in 2004 and is now housed at The Aspen Institute.
In 1997, Liswood co-founded The White House Project dedicated to electing a woman President in the United States. Her work with women presidents and prime ministers was the inspiration for the Project to change the cultural message in the United States about women as leaders.
Liswood has also held management positions in the airline industry and other large corporations. She holds an MBA from Harvard Business School, a JD from the University of California, Davis, School of Law, and a BA from California State University, San Diego. She is also a Sergeant in the Washington DC Metropolitan reserve police force.
