Biography

Michael "Mickey" Bergman is the Executive Director of the Global Alliances Program at the Aspen Institute, and President of the Solel Strategic Group (SSG). Current and past clients of SSG include: the Clinton Global Initiative, the Aspen Institute (jointly with the U.S. Department of State), former Governor Bill Richardson, the Robert Redford Center at Sundance, and the Elders.

At Aspen, Mickey directs several programs; amongst them is Partners for a New Beginning, which is a network working in ten countries where local projects and priorities are identified by local partners. PNB strategically matches them with U.S. and international partners on issues of economic opportunity, science & technology, education and exchange, to help advance the vision President Obama laid out in his June 2009 Cairo speech. Additional programs at Aspen include: the U.S.-Palestinian Partnership, the Emirates-Aspen Partnership, the North-Africa Partnership of Economic Opportunity, and the U.S.-Lebanon Dialogue. Mickey is also teaching at the Walsh School of Foreign Service, Georgetown University. 

Prior to establishing Solel, Mickey served for two years as the Director of Congressional Relations and Senior Policy Analyst at the Center for Middle East Peace and Economic Cooperation based in Washington, DC. Mickey has published articles and opinion pieces in the Boston Globe, Foreign Policy Online, the Huffington Post, Y-net, Daily Star, Aspen Magazine, and the Middle East Bulletin.

Mickey received his Master of Science in Foreign Service from the Walsh School at Georgetown University.
