Biography

Nicole Buckley is a Senior Program Manager with the Energy & Environment Program at the Aspen Institute. She focuses on sustainable use of natural resources, including agriculture and fisheries management. She currently leads the Aspen Institute Food Security Strategy Group, a joint project between the Energy & Environment, Global Health and Development, and Middle East Programs. She also developed and manages the Aspen Ocean Community Study and Dialogue, an initiative focused on the efficacy of international marine policy and advocacy conducted in partnership with Duke University’s  Nicholas Institute for Environmental Policy Solutions and the Aspen Evaluation and Planning Program.

Prior to joining the Energy & Environment Program, Nicole managed the Institute's global ranking of business schools focused on social and environmental impact, run by the Business & Society Program. She developed a new website for the ranking at BeyondGreyPinstripes.org, and also managed the 2011 Faculty Pioneer Awards, spotlighting faculty integrating social and environmental issues into their research and teaching.

Nicole previously worked at L.E.K. Consulting, serving the retail, pharmaceutical, biotech and aviation industries. She also managed product development for Dot-to-Dot Children’s Books, a non-profit, conservation-focused startup. She has a B.A. from Harvard University, where she double-majored in Cultural Anthropology and East Asian Studies. Nicole is president of the Harvard alumni group on agriculture and food production.
