Biography

Stephen Friedman concurrently serves as Federal Reserve Chairman of New York and Chairman for Stone Point Capitol, LLC, which manages private equity funds investing in financial services businesses. He is Chairman of the President’s Foreign Intelligence Advisory Board and the Intelligence Oversight Board. Previously, Mr. Friedman served as Chairman of Goldman Sachs & Co. From December 2002 to December 2004, he served as Assistant to President George W. Bush for Economic Policy and Director of the National Economic Council. Mr. Friedman is currently a board member of The Goldman Sachs Group, Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center, and the Council on Foreign Relations.  Prior affiliations include Chairman of the Board of Columbia University. Mr. Friedman received a B.A. from Cornell University and a LL.B. from Columbia University Law School (Law Review).
