Genevieve Edens, Impact Assessment Manager
Genevieve has five years of experience across private, non-profit, and academic settings. She comes to ANDE from the international non-profit ACDI/VOCA, where she supported projects in the Enterprise Development portfolio with a focus on the cooperative business model in East Africa and Latin America. Before moving to Washington DC, Genevieve spent several years living in Tanzania; there, she worked for the coffee importer Sustainable Harvest linking producers to high-premium specialty coffee markets. Genevieve also conducted research at the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University on cultural differences in charitable giving. She has a B.A. from Wesleyan University in African History.
Jenny Everett, Associate Director
Jenny has fifteen years’ experience in the private and non-profit sectors. Most recently, she was the Senior Program Manager, Membership and Individual Donors at Hispanics in Philanthropy. She has also worked with DoubleClick in San Francisco and the Concha y Toro winery in Santiago, Chile. During business school, she worked with Agora Partnerships in Nicaragua, Enterprise Solutions for Poverty in New York, and Investors’ Circle in San Francisco. She currently serves on the Advisory Committee of the DC Social Innovation Project and is a former member of the Advisory Council of the New York Venture Philanthropy Fund and the Board of Refugee Transitions in San Francisco. She has an MBA from the NYU Stern School of Business and a BA in Latin American Studies from Davidson College.

Jack Garvey, Jr., Program Coordinator
Jack joined ANDE as a Program Coordinator in June 2011. Previously, he served as the advocacy and policy research intern at the Truman National Security Project. In 2010, Jack authored a survey report of the social enterprise sector in North Carolina while interning at the Chapel Hill-Carrboro Chamber of Commerce. He graduated with a B.A. in Public Policy from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in May 2010.
Stella Hanly, Operations Associate
Stella joined the ANDE team in October 2011. Stella has more than a decade of experience in providing technical and consulting support for various software applications. Previously, Stella was a Senior Consultant at Manhattan Associates, Inc. where she consulted on post-implementation software environments. She is pursuing an MPA with a concentration in non-profit management at George Mason University and received her BSc in Mathematics from The Queen’s University of Belfast in her native Ireland.
Joanna Herrmann, Program Associate
Joanna Herrmann is the Program Associate of ANDE. She has been at the Aspen Institute since June 2008, and has had the unique opportunity of seeing ANDE evolve from its roots! Joanna has a dual-role at the Aspen Institute, also serving as the Executive Assistant for Peter Reiling, the Executive Vice President of Leadership and Seminar Programs. Previously Joanna worked for Legal Momentum, a legal defense and education nonprofit, working to protect immigrant women against domestic violence. Joanna is a graduate of the University of Virginia where she majored in Human Rights and wrote her senior thesis on the International Criminal Court. She studied abroad in London and is the co-founder of The Ben Topus Camp, a nonprofit overnight camp for inner-city kids that ran for three summers.
Randall Kempner, Executive Director
Randall came onboard as ANDE's first Executive Director in January 2009. In this role, Randall oversees the implementation of ANDE’s extensive program and policy agenda, including efforts to develop standardized social and environmental metrics for impact investment, training seminars on supporting and investing in emerging-market entrepreneurs and the ANDE Capacity Development Fund, a $1m facility which supports capacity building and innovation within the SGB sector. Randall has nearly twenty years of experience in the field of national and international economic development. Prior to joining ANDE, he served as Vice President for Regional Innovation at the U.S. Council on Competitiveness. Randall graduated from the University of Texas with an M.B.A and an M.P.A.ff He earned his bachelor's degree in Government from Harvard University.
Saurabh Lall, Research Director
Saurabh Lall leads ANDE’s research initiative, which focuses on understanding the impact of small and growing businesses on poverty and economic development. Saurabh was previously the Research Officer of the New Ventures program at the World Resources Institute, where he studied the investment potential of environmental entrepreneurship in developing countries. Originally from Mumbai, Saurabh has also worked on rural water and sanitation issues in several states across India. He has a Master of Public Policy degree from George Washington University and a Bachelor of Engineering degree from the University of Mumbai. He is currently pursuing a PhD in Public Policy and Administration at the George Washington University, focusing on impact investing and program evaluation.
The Executive Committee
ANDE is governed by two bodies, the Aspen Institute and the ANDE Executive Comimttee. As ANDE operates under the non-profit status of the Aspen Institute, the official bylaws of the organization are The Aspen Institute bylaws. The Aspen Institute thus maintains fiduciary and legal oversight. The ANDE Executive Committee provides strategic direction and operational oversight. The Executive Committee is led by a Chairman who presides over committee meetings.
