On behalf of Valencia College, President Sandy Shugart accepts the 2011 Aspen Prize for Community College Excellence. 

In December 2011, the Aspen Institute announced the winner of the inaugural Prize, Valencia College (FL), and four finalists-with-distinction, Lake Area Technical Institute  (SD), Miami Dade College (FL), Walla Walla Community College  (WA), and West Kentucky Community and Technical College (KY).
