The Aspen Challenge
The Aspen Challenge
Join the Challenge

Are you interested in bringing the Aspen Challenge to your school district? The Aspen Challenge team inspires high school students to apply their leadership, learning and problem-solving skills to design solutions to the most critical and complicated problems we face. They will be encouraged to work creatively and collaboratively, and empowered to seek opportunities for positive change within their own communities.
The Aspen Challenge will launch in Los Angeles in 2013; in future years, the Aspen Challenge will take place in other cities across the United States, establishing itself as a major force in inspiring, cultivating, and developing youth leadership.
Partnership Criteria
Participating schools must meet the following criteria:
• Be a public high school (including Affiliated Charter and Magnet Schools)
• Have at least 25 percent of students eligible for free/reduced lunch program
• Identify and build a team with one principal, coach (a teacher appointed by the principal) and eight students
• Full participation of team and availability of coach and principal to participate in key events.
In subsequent years, we look forward to partnering with schools districts throughout the nation to develop a similar programming model. If you believe your community would be an enthusiastic host for the next Challenge, please email Natalie Lacy, Program Manager of the Aspen Challenge at natalie.lacy@aspeninst.org.
Be sure to see videos of the challenges presented at the California Science Center.
