College Excellence Program

Siemens Technical Scholars Program

The Aspen Institute College Excellence Program is partnering with the Siemens Foundation on a new program to raise the profile of middle-skill jobs in STEM fields and the excellent community colleges that deliver first-rate preparation of young adults for such jobs. Through a generous grant from the Siemens Foundation, the Siemens Technical Scholars Program will:

Siemens Technical Scholars

  • Reward current students and recent graduates – Siemens Technical Scholars – with scholarships of between $3,500 and $10,000. Their stories will demonstrate the enormous value middle-skill STEM jobs can bring to students and their families.
  • Identify exemplary programs from top community colleges nationally that deliver exceptional training for middle-skill jobs, with a focus on STEM programs.  From the Aspen Prize process, we know that some career programs do better than others in delivering exceptional talent to employers and opportunity for students.  Through the Siemens Technical Scholars program, we will work to deepen the sector’s knowledge of how community colleges deliver those results through middle-skill STEM programs.
  • Tell the stories of Siemens Technical Scholars regionally and nationally using high-quality video and written profiles, helping to set the standard for young adults’ preparation for and success in middle-skill jobs.
