Gene Columbo, Senior Advisor

Gene Columbo is a Senior Advisor to the Aspen Institute, responsible for supporting the Initiative for the International Mailing Industry.

Gene has extensive senior management experience in all facets of postal operations and marketing, from mail processing through delivery and retail, sales and product management at local, regional and national levels.  He has specifically worked on quality service tracking and analysis systems, address management systems, operations improvement, strategic planning and marketing systems in the US and overseas.

Gene is also a Global Postal competency advisor to BearingPoint in Washington, DC.  From 1996 to 2004, he was one of three Directors at the International Post Corporation (IPC) in Brussels, Belgium reporting to the CEO.  Gene’s responsibility was postal quality of service monitoring, RFID manufacturing and installation within the postal community of IPC and marketing services support.   IPC is owned by postal operators in Europe, North America and Asia.

Gene is retired from the United States Postal Service where he held director and vice-president level positions in strategic planning, international business, sales and operations.

Gene is a frequent public speaker and has addressed over 100 forums, conventions and conferences world-wide on a wide rage of topics from addressing systems and postal operations to market research results and postal process changes.
