Peter Thomas Keefer has worked on the Communications and Society Program since May 2008, organizing and performing research for projects including the annual Aspen Institute Roundtable on Information Technology and the Aspen Institute Dialogue on Journalism and National Security. Additionally he develops and implements communications strategies that include building social media networks around the program’s work, designing websites and performing other digital outreach strategies for the program and its many offshoots such as the ongoing Knight Commission on the Information Needs of Communities in a Democracy.
Peter has previously worked in consulting, on a government-sponsored election oversight project, and for a nonprofit legal organization. In May 2009 he received a Masters degree in Communication, Culture and Technology from Georgetown University where he studied, among other topics, the application of complex adaptive systems theory to communications policy, privacy and cybersecurity. Peter also holds a B.A. in International Relations from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and has spent semesters in London and Prague.
