FEATURED PRESENTATION: Lessons and Conclusions in Voices from the Field III in High Demand

Aspen Roundtable staff have been presenting the findings from our landmark publication, Voices from the Field III:  Lessons and Challenges from Two Decades of Community Change Efforts, in a wide variety of national and local settings, such as:

National Neighborhood Revitalization Initiative conference, Council on Foundations, Grassroots Grantmakers, Los Angeles Funders Network, Massachusetts Promise Neighborhoods grantees, Vibrant Communities Network in Canada, LISC and the Sustainable Communities Network. 

Aspen Roundtable staff structure in-depth learning sessions on key issues in place-based work in various formats, from one-hour presentations to two-day deep learning sessions.

  • Anne Kubisch was the keynote speaker at a Montreal, Quebec, convening of 140 of the main antipoverty/community development policymakers and practitioners in Quebec. She spoke on comprehensive community change initiatives and Voices from the Field III.   • Tom Dewar was a plenary speaker at the National Conference of Juvenile Court Judges, “Now is the Time: You are the Leaders We Seek,” in December 2011, held in New Orleans, LA. He presented on the important window of opportunity that has opened for strong change in juvenile justice policy and practice. 
  • Anne Kubisch gave a presentation at the annual meeting of APPAM (the Association of Public Policy and Management) on assessing community change interventions, in November 2011.
  • Anne Kubisch presented Listening to Voices from the Field III–Implications for Place-Based Giving at the “Council on Foundations Annual Conference” in April 2011. Panelists included Tonya Allen of The Skillman Foundation, Anthony Cipollone of the Annie E. Casey Foundation, and Kevin Walker of the Northwest Area Foundation. The session was developed and moderated by Charles Rutheiser of the Annie E. Casey Foundation.
  • Tom Dewar lead a workshop on Evaluating Community Change at "The Power of Promise: Transforming Neighborhoods for Our Children’s Future” in November 2010. This convening was for team leaders from the newly awarded Promise Neighborhood Sites across the country, and was sponsored by PolicyLink, the Center for the Study of Social Policy, and HUD.
