Workforce Strategies Initiative (WSI) Publications
WSI produces papers, reports and briefs based on its research. The publications include:

  • reports based on national or regional research of the field of sectoral employment development broadly;
  • findings of our research on the labor-market experiences of program participants;
  • reports on topics associated with public policy as relates to sectoral employment development;
  • in-depth examinations of individual sectoral programs, including details about programs’ strategies for providing services to clients and industry;
  • publications and tools which cover important topics of interest to those working in the field.

Access to Capital and Credit Publications
Products focus on efforts to help low-income individuals and communities gain access to mainstream financial services, including financial education and support, high-return savings products, investment opportunities and the purchase and maintenance of assets.

Microenterprise Fund for Innovation, Effectiveness, Learning and Dissemination (FIELD) Publications
FIELD offers an extensive variety of publications on the topic of Microenterprise Development. For a comprehensive listing please see the FIELD web site.

Community-Based Forestry (CBF) Demonstration Program Publications
CBF publications include lessons that Program grantees learned about how community based forestry can strengthen communities and local economies through sustainable forest management, resources, case studies, worksheets and tools that can help you develop your own product branding and marketing strategies.

In 2002, a former Aspen Institute Program (The Domestic Strategy Group) under Director David T. Ellwood, released Grow Faster Together or Grow Slowly Apart,  a report which highlights an impending American workforce crisis. The report details alarming trends shaping the size and characteristics of the country's labor force, focusing on shortages in labor and skills and stagnant wages. It recommends that worker training, job security and stability, and immigration policy should be priorities and offers concrete initiatives for government and the private sector.
