Michael D. Scimo

Michael Scimo is managing director, North America Human Capital and Diversity, at Accenture, where he plays a critical role driving the company’s talent, leadership and culture initiatives as well as inclusion and diversity programs. Michael also guides Accenture’s North American Corporate Citizenship programs, including Skills to Succeed, which will equip more than 250,000 people around the world by 2015 with the skills to get a job or build a business.
Additionally, Michael serves as managing director for Accenture’s Chicago office, leading more than 5,000 professionals, managing the local business and expanding the company’s civic presence.
Prior to these posts, Michael led the company’s global Chemicals and Natural Resources industry practice. In this role he defined and ran the industry group’s strategy and growth agenda, alliance partnerships, industry-specific product and services offerings, research efforts, skill development and client portfolio strategy.
Michael has held a number of leadership positions within Accenture and helped some of the world’s largest and most complex companies undergo major transformational change initiatives. He has applied his industry and leadership skills to help clients create the case for change, and to help drive and deliver business value across large, multi-national companies operating in the United States, Europe, South America and Asia.
Michael began his career at Motorola before joining Accenture in 1985. Initially he led operational reengineering assignments in the consumer products, printing and publishing, and chemical industries and honed his technology skills on system integration assignments, for clients such as the United States Government.
A graduate of Bradley University with a Bachelor of Science in Manufacturing Engineering, Michael earned his MBA from Northwestern University’s J. L. Kellogg Graduate School of Management.
He is a member of the Commercial Club of Chicago’s Civic Committee and the Executives Club of Chicago. Additionally, he is a board member of Junior Achievement, the Civic Consulting Alliance, and the Accenture Foundation. Michael resides in Wayne, IL with his wife and three sons.
