Health, Biomedical Science and Society Initiative

The Aspen Health Forum

The Aspen Health Forum — Join Us!

Watch Video of the Aspen Health Forum!

There is no shortage of conferences where scientists can argue about genomes or clinicians can debate the various treatments, but there is only one place where laypeople can go to learn about medical science and its vital implications for their lives, investments and political interests: The Aspen Health Forum.

Modeled after the Aspen Ideas Festival, this new gathering offers participants the rare opportunity to exchange ideas with Nobel Prize winners, prominent NIH officials and other thought leaders in biomedicine and health. We will explore the most challenging issues and exciting developments in medical science — and how they may affect our individual health and that of our families and communities.

The Aspen Health Forum is open to the public and all are welcome. It will be held at the Aspen Meadows Resort and Conference Center in beautiful Aspen Colorado, October 3-6, 2007. Please join us.

New! Evening Special Events. The forum includes four evening programs at just $15 each.

Program: Offering 53 sessions in all, the Forum will shed light on the state-of-the-art and frontiers of medicine with panels such as "Cracking the Code: Life and Wellness in the Genomic Age," "The Emerging Science of Mood," and "The Hospital of the Future." Other sessions will explore health reform and the presidential campaigns, international models of science funding, personal stories of scientific discovery, the rise of medical tourism, and what Americans expect from their medical research and healthcare as evidenced by a new national poll slated for release at the Forum.

Overview: The Forum will feature plenary sessions and keynote speeches for large audiences, tutorial sessions for smaller groups from 35 to 100 people, and special events and attractions, such as art exhibits, film screenings, simulations, and an organic food cook-off.

Speakers: The Forum will feature more than 100 experts in all, including Tommy Thompson, former Secretary of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services; Eric Schlosser, author of Fast Food Nation; Bill Frist, former Senate Majority Leader and physician; Michael Milken, financier, philanthropist and medical research advocate; Harvey Fineberg, president of the Institute of Medicine; J. Michael Bishop, Nobel Prize laureate and cancer research pioneer; Anthony Fauci, director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases and a top expert on HIV/AIDS.

Registration: Discounts are available for non-profit and government employees, overseas guests, university faculty and students, and Society of Fellows members.

Travel & Lodging: Great rates on air travel and elegant accommodations just minutes from our conference center and historic downtown Aspen.

Sponsors and Partners: , , and GE Healthcare , and The Haseltine Foundation, our sponsors, have made the Forum possible, along with our many partners.
