Biography

Dennis C. Blair, USN Ret. served as the Director of National Intelligence from 2009-2010. Prior to that, he served as the President and Chief Executive Officer of The Institute for Defense Analyses, a federally funded research and development center from November 2003 to September 2006. Mr. Blair served as Vice Admiral and Director of the Joint Staff and Associate Director of Central Intelligence for Military Support. Previously, he served as Director of the Joint Staff in the Office of the Chairman of Joint Chiefs of Staff, Washington, D.C. In May 2002 Admiral Blair retired from the U.S. Navy after served as Commander-in-Chief of the U.S. Pacific Command for three years. He serves as a Member of The Advisory Board at Haines Centre for Strategic Management. He served as a Director of Tyco International Ltd. of Tyco International Finance S.A (alternate name is Topaz International Group SA) from March 2003 to February 2009. He served as Director of Iridium Satellite, LLC (now Iridium Communications Inc.) since July 26, 2007. He served as a Director of EDO Corporation from October 2002 to August 3, 2006.

Admiral Blair held the Omar Bradley Chair of Strategic Leadership at the Army War College and Dickinson College in Carlisle, Pa. He was awarded the Defense Distinguished Service Medal four times, the National Intelligence Distinguished Service Medal twice, and received decorations from the governments of Japan, Thailand, Korea, Australia and Taiwan. He served as Member of Strategic Advisory Council at The SI Organization Inc.

Admiral Blair is graduated from the US Naval Academy in 1968 and holds a Masters degree from Oxford University as a Rhodes Scholar. He is a member of the Aspen Homeland Security Group.
