Biography
Marc Nathanson is Chairman of Mapleton Investments, Mapleton Communications and Mapleton/RDS Real Estate, LLC. Mr. Nathanson currently serves as Vice Chairman of Charter Communications, the nation’s largest cable TV company. From 1975 to 1999, Mr. Nathanson was the founder and CEO of Falcon Cable TV.
Mr. Nathanson served as Chairman of the Broadcasting Board of Governors from 1998 to 2002, which was responsible for all US government non-military broadcasting including Voice of America, Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty, Radio Free Asia, Radio/TV Marti, and Radio Sawa. He serves as Vice-chair of the National Democratic Institute for International Affairs, and has co-chaired the Aspen Institute Forum on Communications and Society (FOCAS) program for many years. He is co-chair of the Homeland Security Advisory Council for Los Angeles County. He is a member of the Council of Foreign Relations, and a former member of the Albanian-American Enterprise Fund. He and his wife, Jane, reside in Los Angeles and Aspen.
Mr. Nathanson graduated with a degree in political science from the University of Denver; as well as an MA in political science from the University of California, Santa Barbara. He is a member of the Aspen Homeland Security Group.
