Ambassadors' Security Roundtable: Europe

Participants of the ASR Europe Roundtable with AGT International CEO Mati Kochavi, featured dinner speaker John McLaughlin, Aspen Institute Homeland Security Program Director Clark Ervin, and roundtable moderator Susan Glasser.
The inaugural convening of the Ambassadors' Security Roundtable (ASR), focused on Europe, took place on October 22-23, 2012 at the Aspen Institute’s Wye River campus, and featured former Deputy and Acting CIA Director John McLaughlin in conversation with TIME’s Massimo Calabresi. At the commencement dinner, McLaughlin elaborated on a number of security themes relevant to Europe, including the uncertainty posed by "the Arab Spring;" the changing Al Qaeda threat; and the rise of China and America's "pivot to Asia."
Participants at the roundtable included ambassadors and other high-level representatives from Austria, Azerbaijan, Bulgaria, Cyprus, Georgia, Kosovo, Lithuania, Macedonia, Portugal, Slovenia, Spain, and Ukraine, and the discussion was moderated by Foreign Policy's Susan Glasser. The daylong conversation focused on the foregoing security themes, as well as issues of particular concern to each country.
