Middle East Programs

About the US-Lebanon Dialogue

The Aspen Institute and the Lebanon Renaissance Foundation (LRF) have entered into partnership to create a new policy program on Lebanon. Aspen Institute Middle East programs specialize in bringing together key policymakers and opinion leaders over important issues and producing actionable ideas for change. The LRF’s mission is to build a free and democratic Lebanon with an open society, that is fully integrated into the global economy and which offers its people free choices under the rule of law.Bringing Aspen’s approach to LRF’s mission, the new program would work toward three core goals:

  • Raise Lebanon’s profile within the policy establishment in Washington, DC.
  • Promote initiatives to strengthen Lebanese state institutions, promote Lebanese reform efforts, and secure Lebanon’s sovereignty over its borders, military and economy.
  • Create independent American-Lebanese partnerships and coalitions in the context of government and public-private partnerships that will promote economic development and build constituencies for peace in the region.
