Founded in 1996 in Silicon Valley, the Socrates Program has grown into a network of more than 2,000 alumni from around the U.S. and many countries all over the world, including Africa, Asia, Europe, and South America. Socrates alumni have convened in Aspen and select U.S. cities to engage in dynamic socratic roundtable discussions on current and pressing leadership challenges. In 2012, the Socrates Program launched its first international seminars – in Madrid, Spain then in Havana, Cuba – which were attended by European and Cuban participants.
