On February 22, 2013 Trustee Marc Nathanson, and his wife, Jane Nathanson, graciously hosted the Socrates cocktail reception at their home, filled with an extraordinary private contempoary art collection.
After a day of winter activities under crisp blue skies and engaging in three dynamic seminars in Aspen, Colorado, over 70 Socrates participants listened to Charles Kenny, senior fellow at the Center for Global Development, interview Princeton professor Anne-Marie Slaughter in a fireside chat, “Next Steps in the Work-Family Revolution.”
Not even a week after Hurricane Sandy, more than 80 Socrates guests gathered at the Roosevelt House for an evening reception with opening remarks from Walter Isaacson, followed by a conversation on the American dream with Jack Goldstone and Hedrick Smith, moderated by Elliot Gerson. The next day 30 participants, including members from Aspen France and Aspen España spent the day discussing the ability to rebuild the American dream.
Intel sponsored a Socrates Salon in Washington DC on October 19, 20th. On Friday evening, more than 100 guests gathered at House of Sweden. Hari Sreenivasan moderated a conversation between Jack Goldstone and Vijay Vaitheeswaran on the emerging global middle class’ impact on trade, markets and innovation. On Saturday, Socrates participants spent the day at the Aspen Institute with Jack and Vijay delving into the topic.

Participants from around the U.S. and six other countries convened in Aspen during President's Day Weekend for the 2012 Socrates Winter Seminars. Roundtable discussions were led by Socrates moderators Stephen Balkam on Social Media, Mark Brownstein on the Future of Energy, and Mona Eltahawy on the Middle East and North Africa.
