In 1964, when technology was poised to forever change our understanding of man's role in a complex world, the Aspen Institute founded the Society of Fellows. Envisioned as a group seeking ways to give "greater meaning to man and wiser direction to society," the Society of Fellows was dedicated to establishing a balance between human flourishing and the challenges posed by the rapid advancement of science.
Few were prepared for the changes that have taken place since 1964, or the extraordinary impact they have made worldwide. The Society of Fellows has endured due to its commitment to understanding these forces, and to preparing leaders to respond with wisdom and grace. It has also evolved into an important source of financial support to the Institute, helping to sustain the Institute's mission, expand its programs, and ensure its future.
While this support is for the benefit of the Institute overall, it also allows for events and seminars to be conducted exclusively for the Fellows. The Institute offers opportunities to Fellows to engage in-depth discussion regarding current topics in society, meet and listen to some of the foremost policy experts in the world, and, through it all, join a thoughtful community that is committed to the improvement of the human condition.
