Meryl Justin Chertoff is the Co-Director of the Aspen Institute Justice and Society Program.

After the interview, Chertoff remarked, "Elena Kagan was a gifted leader as Dean of Harvard Law School, negotiating the subtleties of academic politics in a manner that will well prepare her for the work of the Court, where I predict she will be a concilliator. And isn't it nice that adding an additional woman to the Supreme Court really just is no longer a big deal."
