Aspen Young Leaders Fellowship Accepting Applications for Its Inaugural Cohort in Miami Through July

The Aspen Young Leaders Fellowship, a program of the Aspen Institute, is seeking applications for its inaugural cohort of Fellows in Miami. The application is now live and will be open through Friday, July 28. Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis, and early submission is recommended.

Fellows will be selected based on leadership potential, not the best grades or school attendance, but signs of strong leadership qualities, behaviors, and traits. Through intensive values-focused dialogues, community-focused projects addressing a local need, and engagement with community leaders and stakeholders, the program will help admitted Fellows harness their potential to be leaders and affect real change in their communities. They will learn how to lead amid adversity, explore their sense of purpose, tap into the Aspen Institute’s global network of leaders, and gain lasting connections with peers from across Miami.

It is open to all young people ages 18-22 who reside in Miami-Dade County and who meet the characteristics below, regardless of education or employment status.

The Aspen Young Leaders Fellowship is seeking to build a diverse cohort of 25 young people between the ages of 18-22 who have:

  • A Desire to Nurture a Strong Understandings of Current Community Culture
  • Observed and Questioned Critical Issues Facing Their Communities
  • Demonstrated Ability to Overcome Obstacles
  • Experience Working Successfully as Part of a Team
  • Demonstrated Ability to Set and Achieve Long-Term Goals
  • Exhibited Drive to Set and Strive for High Expectations

The Fellowship is comprised of one year of leadership training following by 4 years of targeted support including academic, career and life coaching as well as access to funds for community initiatives or emergency needs.

THE FIRST YEAR OF THE FELLOWSHIP EXPERIENCE INCLUDES:

  • 9 Monthly Sessions of Leadership Training
  • Connections To Powerful Thinkers, Leaders, And Change-Makers
  • Personalized, One-On-One Coaching
  • A Retreat with Fellows and Partners from Across the U.S.
  • Opportunity To Design and Implement a Community Impact Project (CIP) That Addresses a Community Need Identified in Miami
  • $1,200 Stipend for Contributing Voice, Vision, and Time to the CIP
  • Graduation Ceremony for Fellows’ friends and families
  • The Chance to Practice Resilience and Perseverance in Completing a Rigorous and Rewarding Journey
