Can we imagine starting absolutely fresh? Mark Twain’s invention of Eve’s diary is at once sophisticated and wise—sophisticated in language and thought; wise in its naivete and in the freshness of its perceptiveness. What a joy to experience everything anew, with confidence and without fear, each day a constant refreshment of wonder! I am an experiment, nothing more. And yet that experiment is everything in which I am everything and yet not everything. I exist within the whole and need to guard it and myself with vigilance. Like the world, I am a most noble and beautiful work of art, and works of art should not be subject to haste. What experiment in nobility and beauty will you undertake today?
