Sharing Shakespeare 3.0: Politics
Politics pervades many of Shakespeare’s plays. Using Henry V and Julius Caesar, Mike and Roberta McGowan will moderate this discussion on how Shakespeare handles legitimate vs. illegitimate succession. How do political systems define a good or a bad leader? Are there different criteria for a Monarchy than a Republic? What are the roles of the Bully Pulpit and crowd reaction in each play?
Readings: Julius Caesar, Henry V
